Hello all,

Remember no meeting tomorrow, Monday, the  5th.  It’s the following week.

THIS JANUARY’S MEETING IS THE 2ND MONDAY
This meeting will be held on Monday, January 12th, at 7:30 in the U.T. Butler School of Music, room M3.113 on the mezzanine level.

KEY BUSHING
Celeste Coburn, the action specialist at Mollberg & Associates, has agreed to give us a detailed  presentation on Key Bushings this coming January 12th.  Often piano technicians are confronted with an elderly piano that needs bushings.  In fact, key cloth, pins, and bushings are an essential element of the Real Piano Experience.  Sure you can tune and run.  But sometimes you should be brave and advise that either we put this piano out of our misery, or we do the right thing and replace the cloth & bushings on this piano. This is the ‘sine qua non’ of performance level touch.

Ms. Coburn works on very high value pianos (mostly).  And the methods and materials she employs are state-of-the-art.  I attended her class at SCRC and came away with 11 good tips and reminders (there are quite a few more).  It is excellent.  This will hone your skill, improve your result, put a correct value on your time, and increase your speed & efficiency.

So come and join us in the New Year.  Learn how to make a profit on bushings.  Glean one of the great benefits you enjoy from the dues you just paid.  Come on out.

Prosperous New Year,

Chris Prewitt, RPT
