Austin PTG Chapter Meeting & News

Monday, October 7 at 7:00 PM

Steinway Piano Gallery of Austin
12980 Research Blvd, Austin, TX 78750

Dear Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to announce a very special upcoming event.

Charles Ball will be giving his presentation: How to Transform a Grand Piano in Four to Six Hours.

The meeting will be held Monday October 7th at 7:00pm at the Austin’s Steinway Piano Gallery.

Charles has a wealth of knowledge and experience and this event is truly not to be missed.

For some of our newer colleagues who may not be familiar with Charles here is a little bit about his background:

Charles served as Head Piano Technician for the UT Butler School of Music from 1980 until his retirement in 2019, and to UT’s Texas Performing Arts from 1981 until his retirement in 2019. Additionally, he has been primarily responsible for the concert preparation and maintenance of the Van Cliburn Foundation Steinway Pianos at Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth since 1998, and the concert technician for the Austin Symphony Orchestra since 1981. Charles has had extensive training at Steinway & Sons in New York City, and has also had training at the Yamaha Little Red Schoolhouse in Los Angeles, and works as a consultant and performs new Steinway preparation for Steinway Piano Gallery in Austin, Texas. Charles has worked for some of the finest concert pianists and musicians of our day and, while semi-retired, continues to maintain pianos for a select clientele.

I hope you can join us, all are welcome.
