Andrew Edwards, Head Piano Technician at UT will be giving a technical presentation on David Stanwood’s Precision Touch Design and Touch Weight Metrology. This is a fascinating area in our field and even if you don’t do any action rebuilding this information is crucial for a full understanding of piano touch.
Andrew has been a piano technician for 18 years, beginning as an apprentice, then later an assistant tech at Louisiana State University, He holds a certificate of Advanced Piano Technology from Northwestern University. Andrew has worked abroad in New Zealand and has had supplemental training in Vienna, Austria. He was the Head Technician at University of Houston, and has been Head Technician at UT since 2020.
Free street parking is available on Dean Keaton after 6:00pm (please double check signs). The Butler School of Music is about a half block walk from there. If the walk would be restrictive to any potential attendees please contact me in advance and we can make arrangements to get you from your car to BSOM more easily.
I hope you can join us!
